"textContent": "Arsenal moved into the Emirates 20 years ago (Picture: Getty Images)\n\nArsenal are planning to expand the Emirates Stadium and are considering various options, including a short-term move while work is carried out.\n\nIt may still be one of the newest arenas in the Premier League, but it is now 20 years since Arsenal moved into the Emirates after leaving Highbury.\n\nThe stadium in north London seats 60,000 people and the Gunners are looking at how they could increase that number.\n\nCity AM report that ‘all options remain on the table’ for how the club could go about that.\n\nThose options range from relatively small upgrades to hospitality areas, to substantial work which would see the team play elsewhere while it is carried out.\n\nThe report states that Arsenal are holding talks with architects Populous, who designed the Emirates.\n\nThe experts in stadium projects also worked on Wembley and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.\n\n## Get personalised football updates every day\n\nSign up to our daily football newsletter and choose your team to get the latest news, rumours and more about your favourite team.\n\nArsenal could certainly sell more tickets than their capacity allows (Picture: Getty Images)\n\nWhen Arsenal moved into the Emirates, it was the second biggest stadium in the Premier League, only behind Manchester United’s Old Trafford.\n\nThat has changed since then, though, with Tottenham’s new ground boasting a capacity of 62,850, to take second place behind Old Trafford.\n\nWest Ham have moved to the London Stadium, with a capacity of 62,500, while Liverpool have extended Anfield to a capacity of 61,276.\n\nThat leaves the Emirates the fifth biggest in the Premier League and sixth in England, with Wembley leading the way on 90,000.\n\nIt was a memorable night at the Emirates as Arsenal beat Atletico earlier this month (Picture: Getty Images)\n\nThe other Premier League grounds with over 50,000 capacity are Manchester City’s Etihad (55,097), Everton’s Hill Dickinson (52,769) and Newcastle’s St James’ Park (52,338).\n\nArsenal boss Mikel Arteta says he experienced something at the Emirates that he never had before when the Gunners beat Atletico Madrid 1-0 in the Champions League semi-final second leg.\n\nHe felt the Arsenal fans produced a unique atmosphere which played a big part in getting the team into just their second ever Champions League final.\n\nTo view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tvideo\n\nUp Next\n\nPrevious Page\n\nNext Page\n\n‘An incredible night,’ Arteta said after the win, which set up a clash with PSG in the final. ‘We made history again together and I cannot be more proud for everyone.\n\n‘The way that we were welcomed outside the stadium was special and unique.
