  "textContent": "The soliders went missing during the war games exercise (Picture: Getty Images/iStockphoto)\n\nA rescue operation is underway for two US service personnel who went missing during military exercises in Morocco.\n\nThe two soldiers disappeared in south-western Morocco after taking part in annual multinational military exercises, the United States Africa Command (Africom) said Sunday.\n\nThe US, Morocco and other countries involved in the war games have launched a search and rescue operation to track down the soldiers.\n\nThey went missing on May 2 near the Cap Draa training area near Tan Tan, close to the Atlantic Ocean.\n\nAfrican Lion involves 5,000 troops and personnel from some 40 countries (Picture: Shutterstock / Volodymyr TVERDOKHLIB)\n\nBoth personnel are with the Army and were on a hike when they are believed to have fallen from a cliff and into the ocean, ABC reports.\n\nHelicopters, drones and naval vessels, as well as mountaineers and divers are all trying to track down the soldiers.\n\nAfricom said in a statement: ‘The incident remains under investigation and the search is on-going.’\n\nThe exercises started in April and span four countries, including Tunisia, Ghana and Senegal.\n\nAfrican Lion is the largest US joint military exercise on the continent and is run by high-ranking military officials from the US and its allies.\n\n******Get in touch with our news team by emailing us atwebnews@metro.co.uk.******\n\n**For more stories like this,** check our news page.\n\nComment now Comments \nAdd Metro as a Preferred Source on Google\nAdd as preferred source\n",
