  "textContent": "Hugo Ekitike suffered a suspected Achilles injury in Liverpool’s 2-0 defeat to PSG (EPA)\n\nHugo Ekitike was forced off with a suspected Achilles injury during Liverpool’s 2-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday night.\n\nThe French striker started alongside Alexander Isak for the second leg of Liverpool’s quarter-final tie against the Champions League holders.\n\nIn the 29th minute, Ekitike went down unchallenged after landing awkwardly moments earlier and immediately looked in pain as he was surrounded by both sets of players who looked concerned.\n\nEkitike could be seen clutching the Achilles on his right foot before medical staff helped him off the pitch on a stretcher.\n\nThe 23-year-old was clearly upset before leaving the pitch and he could now potentially miss Liverpool’s remaining six Premier League fixtures this season.\n\nEkitike is also pushing for a place in France’s World Cup squad with their campaign due to begin against Senegal on June 16.\n\nHugo Ekitike immediately looked in pain after going down unchallenged (AP)\n\n##  Get personalised football updates every day\n\nSign up to our daily football newsletter and choose your team to get the latest news, rumours and more about your favourite team.\n\nWhen asked about Ekitike’s injury after his side’s loss, Arne Slot said: ‘Not too good, I think we could all see that.\n\n‘Let’s wait and see what it will be. In the second half he went home so I haven’t seen him.’\n\nHugo Ekitike left the pitch on a stretcher (PA)\n\nLiverpool defender Ibrahima Konate said: ‘I’m very sad for him. To be fair, I think it’s bad,’\n\n‘I don’t want to talk about that, with a World Cup coming it’s very, very hard for him at the moment.
