Former Conservative justice minister Crispin Blunt has admitted possessing illegal drugs including cannabis and crystal meth.

The charges related to a raid on the ex-MP’s Surrey home in October 2023, while he was still serving in the House of Commons.

He was found to be in possession of the chemical drug GBL, a sedative, as well as cannabis, methamphetamine and methylamphetamine – which is commonly known as crystal meth.

The substances were found while he was being investigated on suspicion of rape.

In May last year, the rape investigation was dropped by Surrey Police after 18 months due to insufficient evidence.

Blunt, 65, pleaded guilty to four drugs charges in an appearance at Westminster Magistrates’ Court this morning.
