  "textContent": "Members of the US Secret Service monitor the scene after a vehicle ran into a security barricade near the White House (Picture: AP)\n\nA driver has been detained by Secret Service agents after a car smashed into the gates of the White House.\n\nThe driver, who has not been publicly identified, was detained at the scene and is being questioned by authorities.\n\nIt is not clear why the black SUV rammed the security barricade at this early stage.\n\nThe car can be seen being towed away after the crash at around 6am on Wednesday.\n\nA vehicle is towed away after striking a security fence near the White House\n(Picture: AP)\n\nA police spokesperson told CBS News that no injuries have been reported.\n\n‘Secret Service police officers with the Uniformed Division are looking into a suspicious vehicle,’ a spokesperson for the Secret Service said.\n\n‘The driver of the car has been detained and is being questioned. Various entrances and the streets are temporarily closed as teams conduct their work.
