Residents in Dubai including British expats have received alerts on their phones about potential missile threats.

At least two emergency alerts have been sent urging people to seek immediate shelter and await ‘further instructions’.

Iran has launched ‘its most intense barrage of missile strikes yet’ across the Middle East.

Dubai has already seen a number of drones intercepted, with debris landing on two of its most iconic hotels -the Burj Al Arab and Palm Jumeirah – setting them on fire.

Martyn, a British expat, told Metro: ‘We have received two alerts just now. We also had another two last night.

‘It’s a very, very tense situation. It’s very hard to assess here, being in the eye of the storm. There’s no way to understand it.

‘Being on the ground is very nerve-wracking. Many think the missiles would pass but I think it is best to find shelter because you can never really tell what might happen.’

He added the level of disruption people across the United Arab Emirates is ‘what Iran wants’.

‘My friend lives in Abu Dhabi and he got hit hard – there were 15 intercepts recently,’ he said.

‘It feels like the Iranians are trying to take pot shots because it causes lots of disruption.’
