"textContent": "Iain Stanley, 79, was reported missing by his wife after disappearing in Nerja, Costa del Sol (Picture: Lisa Edwards / Facebook\n\nA search has been launched for a British tourist who hasn’t been seen in southern Spain for days.\n\nIain Stanley, 79, was last seen near the Perla Marina Hotel in Nerja on the eastern end of the Costa del Sol on Wednesday, February 11.\n\nNow his loved ones and the Spanish authorities are combing the area after he was last seen leaving holiday home at the resort.\n\nThe last recorded sighting of the pensioner was at about 2pm on Wednesday.\n\nHis wife reported him missing on Thursday and the Civil Guard has now launched an investigation to try to establish what happened.\n\nA taxi driver was questioned after saying he believed he gave a lift to a man matching Iain’s description to the nearby town of Torrox. However, the police later determined it was a false lead.\n\nIain, who is said to be in good health, was wearing black jeans, a shirt and a blue jacket when he was last seen. He was without his mobile phone or his passport.\n\nNews of his disappearance is now circulating in several local expat Facebook groups, with relatives also appealing for information on his whereabouts.\n\nIt was not immediately clear this afternoon where in the UK the pensioner is from.\n\nOne well-wisher who helped by publishing the appeal on social media said he was in Nerja for a two-month holiday.\n\nLast Saturday, a British holidaymaker was airlifted to hospital after dramatically being found in a ravine in Tenerife nearly 30 hours after she went missing during a three-hour hike.\n\nSusan Hornsby, 76, from Devon, had set off on a walk on her own, but alarm was raised when she failed to return from the three-hour hike.\n\n**Got a story?
