Everyone knows that the hallmark of effective regulation is when the entities it regulates can't figure out how its application might affect them, so they take drastic measures to avoid the problem entirely.
You see, it's not the Commission's fault that a plain reading of how the DMA would apply to Siri AI on iOS and iPadOS (including how the Commission is applying the DMA to Google regarding Gemini on Android) suggests that Apple would be forced to allow any and all third-party developers to have broad access to the personal information on EU residents' iPhones and iPads. This would have the perverse effect of allowing Sam Altman (OpenAI), Elon Musk (xAI), and Mark Zuckerberg (Meta) the kind of trusted access to your messages, email, calendar, photos, and everything else you might expect Siri AI to be able to access.
