The most significant moment in this war is the explosion of 150 schoolgirls. People with insider knowledge of government activity trade off the difference between rhetoric and action for eyewatering profits. The introduction of a new chatbot technology is used as a fig leaf to attack working people. There are no houses or jobs. The schools are fucked. Those in employment are miserable. People who already have more money than they’ll ever need are taking home incredible profits from manufactured tragedy and immiseration. And the people who are being swindled are so focused on culture wars and finding new and exciting people to hate that they don’t care enough to do anything about it. If you try and articulate an alternative to them they shrug, say that it wouldn’t work, and continue, because they’ve been taught their entire lives that we live in the greatest possible world. And this world is so shit! The world is so fucking wretched, and we’re all so numb to it, all the time! I hate it! And the only thing I can do is put in my little job applications and say, hey! I’ll be so good for you! I’ll make you so much money! Just let me be a person again! Validate me with employment! All those other people, just like me, desperate and miserable? They’re useless! I’m the one you want!\n\nI hate this shit! I hate it! I hate this life! We only have one planet and we’ve poisoned and carved it to death in exchange for lifestyles that we hate that we maintain for the fear of a lifestyle that’s even worse! It’s all fucked!",
