The latest version of Firefox cramps the home page shortcut icons

The Firefox devs have been re-arranging deckchairs again. I found a fix: "You can revert to old grid in about:config - browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.nova.enabled (set it to false)." The new layout looks like this: The old layout looks like this: The new layout inexplicably added another row to the number of icons but I had already switched it back to 2 before the 'new' screenshot.
