Anybody know about LTE 5G signal boosters?

Rural is cool for most things, but cell signals strength can be weak and spotty. I see boosters anywhere from $75 to $200 or more. External antenna cabled to indoor unit and antenna. But do they work, and are they carrier specific? I see some that still mention VZW like the old ones did years ago. Others say all carriers. I'm on TracFone who was assimilated by VZW, but I don't know if the bands switched.
