A couple observations: I stopped overclocking my old Intel Gen 7 processors and Z170 motherboards in 2021. I was mostly enamored of flight and driving simulators, and wasn't keen on the most demanding games since that time. I have "office" computing needs, but I have personal "requirements" when I build my systems.
Right now, I've built a replacement system with a Rocket Lake processor and the RAM coming from the old Z170 boards -- 3200 DDR4 G.SKILL Trident Z and/or RipJaws 3200 with looser timings. The old systems (two of them) are provisioned with 64GB (4x16) each. I can keep the old systems running if I merely split the RAM so all the systems have 32GB.
I won't be using PrimoCache anymore, since we'll have gen 4 PCIE and SK Hynix P41 NVME boot drives with faster processors. I got good mileage out of 64GB RAM with those systems because I used at least half or 3/4 of it for the caching. I've got additional NVME gen 3 to use as replacement for an SATA SSD and 2.5" HDD...
