Got one of those weird fake Microsoft Security warning screens

Using Brave, one of those overlays popped up, blocking everything. Big colorful flashing things with an 800 number. Couldn't click back, change tabs, or close the browser normally. Had to crash the browser in TaskManager. Brave restarted OK and the screen didn't come back. MalwareBytes is running but hasn't found anything.
