The article suggests that people living in these differing environments perceive reality differently.\n\nHow many of us labor under the assumption that everybody perceives reality the same way we do, that our personal mode of consciousness is standard and universal through time. The article argues that is not true. And if not, do we ever wonder, if we could switch to perceiving in various other states that were typical and normal in their day, might we not prefer some other of those ways of seeing.
