"textContent": "State-owned utility conglomerate Samruk Energy has said it plans to sell its entire stake in Bogatyr Komir, one of the world’s largest mines, by the end of 2026.\n\nIn its annual report for 2025, published this week, Samruk Energy said that it had agreed to sell a 35% stake in Forum Muider BV, the Dutch company that owns Bogatyr Komir, to an undisclosed buyer in December 2025.\n\nIn 2024, Bogatyr Komir sold 43 million tons of coal, a 1.2% increase compared to 2023.\n\nSamruk Energy and Russia’s Rusal (through Cyprus-registered Miradore Enterprises) previously both owned 50% stakes in Forum Muider. In September 2025, each sold 15% to Primet, a Qatari company (as reported in Samruk Energy’s Q3 2025 report), for an undisclosed sum.\n\nIn the annual report, the Qatari company is no longer mentioned by name, but vaguely addressed as “Investor.”\n\n**Sign up for our English-language newsletter.**",
