The Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) is very proud to announce the national theme for Black History Month 2026: “A Century of Black History Commemorations.” Beginning February 1st 2026, ASALH will lead the nation in marking 100 years since the launch of “Negro History Week” in 1926, founded, created and envisioned by Dr. Carter G. Woodson, the father of Black history.
