JoyCity has opened the Steam demo for FreeStyle Football 2, giving soccer fans something to jump into as World Cup festivities get underway. Global servers are live now and will remain available through June 22, launching just ahead of the tournament’s opening ceremonies. The game reunites the original development team behind the FreeStyle series, bringing the franchise back with a mix of street soccer action and updated visuals. The demo introduces several additions, including national team uniforms that let players represent their country, a new New York street court, competitive leaderboard rankings and the Character Lounge system. Anyone who takes part in the demo can unlock the Kickoff Football Gloves and the Known Kickoff Profile Icon as participation rewards. The current build also includes a number of gameplay and system updates. A new New York map has been added alongside daily missions, an achievement system, character recruitment and a clothing shop for player customization. Matchmaking now prioritizes ping more effectively, while server stability has been improved for players connecting from around the world. Several quality-of-life changes have been made as well. Camera issues during corner kicks have been addressed, visibility has been improved and time spent waiting through character selection screens and cutscenes has been reduced. Controls have also been refined with lower input delay, faster ball reception and more responsive kicking mechanics. Gameplay balance received attention too as heading goals from lobbed passes are less effective, defensive headers are more reliable and through passes have been strengthened. On the platform side, Steam users can now create nicknames directly in-game. Cross-play support between PC and consoles has been added and the demo is compatible with Steam Deck.
