"textContent": "Maverick Games, the independent studio founded by former Forza Horizon creative director Mike Brown, has officially unveiled its first game, Clutch. The open-world action driving title mixes competitive racing with a story-driven campaign and is scheduled to launch in Spring 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.\n\nAt the center of the experience is a narrative following a pair of sibling racing prodigies chasing success in the R1K, a century-old racing series known for producing some of the world’s best drivers. Beyond the spotlight of professional racing sits the Midnight Collective, an underground scene built around style, speed and reputation. As the story unfolds, the two worlds begin to collide after the main character finds himself pulled into a much darker side of the racing community.\n\nAccording to Brown, the studio’s goal is to take open-world racing games in a new direction. He says the team, made up of veterans with years of experience building racing titles, wants to create new sandbox gameplay opportunities while pushing the genre forward.\n\nThe game’s world is built around a PvPvE structure where players compete for position, reputation and rewards while dealing with rival crews, shifting alliances and increasingly dangerous pursuits. Alongside traditional races, Clutch will feature a mix of handcrafted and dynamic events designed to encourage creative problem-solving and unpredictable moments behind the wheel.\n\nVehicle customization also plays a major role. Beyond paint schemes and performance upgrades, the system focuses on the smaller details of ownership that help players build a stronger connection with their cars. Maverick says every vehicle can be shaped into something unique, rewarding both personal style and success on the road.\n\nPlayers won’t have to wait long to see more. Maverick Games confirmed that the first look at the story, characters, world and overall stakes of Clutch will be shown during Summer Game Fest on June 5.",
