"textContent": "After months of anticipation, we finally know when _Star Wars: Galactic Racer_ will be launched!\n\n**_Star Wars: Galactic Racer_ is set to launch on October 6 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store**, publisher Secret Mode and developer Fuse Games announced.\n\nAs opposed to a traditional Star Wars gaming experience involving the Jedi, Sith, or Force-based mysticism, _Galactic Racer_ is built around high-stakes, underground racing in the Outer Rim. The Empire is gone, the New Republic is trying to pick up the pieces, and in the middle of it all is a chaotic racing scene where reputation — and credits — are on the line every time you hit the track.\n\nThe game introduces a “runs-based” structure, meaning no two races play out the same way. Players will be able to slam into rivals, take them out mid-race, and push for higher rewards by taking bigger risks. It’s less about clean laps and more about survival, as any good Star Wars-based racing game should be.\n\nIn the single-player campaign, players will step into the role of Shade, a racer trying to climb the ranks of the Galactic League, an unsanctioned circuit where syndicates back pilots and fortunes can swing in seconds. Alongside the story-driven campaign, there will also be PvP modes, giving players multiple ways to compete.\n\nVehicle customization also plays a major role. Players can pilot different classes of repulsorcraft, each with its own feel and playstyle, and tweak them to gain an edge on the competition. It’s clear the game is leaning heavily into both skill and strategy, rather than just speed.\n\nAlongside the announcement, details on the game’s various editions were also revealed. A Standard Edition will be available for $59.99, while a Deluxe Edition adds bonus vehicles, cosmetic packs, and additional events. A more expensive Collector’s Edition includes physical items like a model landspeeder and an art book, along with all digital bonuses. With physical media being all but gone these days, it’s nice to have something tangible to go along with such an expensive purchase.\n\nPre-orders for all editions will include a bonus livery that can be used across vehicles, as well as a player banner background for multiplayer.\n\nLast year, I spoke about my desire for a new Star Wars podracing game. And the fact that we’re getting not just that, but a game that focuses on racing in this universe as a whole, is so cool!",
