"textContent": "A Devotional for Jun 2, 2026 on Matthew 2:14-15 Matthew 2:14–15 reminds us that God often leads His people through unexpected roads in order to preserve His promises. Joseph rose in the night, gathered Mary and the young Jesus, and fled into Egypt because danger had arisen under Herod’s jealous rage. The journey was sudden, uncertain, and costly, yet every step unfolded beneath the sovereign care of God. What appeared to be a desperate escape was actually the fulfillment of the Lord’s ancient word: “Out of Egypt have I called my son.” There are seasons in life when obedience requires movement before understanding. Joseph was not given every detail about the future. He was simply told to rise and go. Faith often looks like quiet obedience in the dark. It is trusting that God sees what we cannot see and that His wisdom reaches farther than our fears. The Lord who guided Joseph through the wilderness is the same Lord who guides His people today through confusion, disappointment, transition, and uncertainty. This passage also reminds us that God’s purposes are never abandoned in difficult seasons. Egypt was not outside the plan of God. Even exile became part of redemption’s story. Sometimes the places we would never choose become the very places where God preserves us, shapes us, and prepares us for what is ahead. The Father was protecting the Son through hiddenness and hardship. In the same way, God’s care for His children is often present in ways we do not immediately recognize. Jesus Himself entered into the experience of displacement, danger, and suffering from the earliest days of His earthly life. He is not distant from human sorrow. He knows what it means to walk through a world filled with uncertainty and hostility. Because of this, believers can come to Him knowing that He understands every anxious night and every fearful journey. Today, take comfort in knowing that God is faithful even when the road changes suddenly. He is able to guide you through unfamiliar territory and sustain you in seasons that feel uncertain. His promises are not fragile, and His care does not fail in the darkness. Prayer: Father, thank You for Your faithful guidance even in uncertain seasons. Teach me to trust You when the path ahead is unclear. Help me to obey Your voice with a willing heart and to rest in the knowledge that Your purposes cannot fail. Thank You for Christ, who entered into suffering and understands every fear and burden. Lead me today beneath Your sovereign care and fill me with peace. Amen.",
