Rachel Willey’s jacket design was selected as LitHub’s Best Book Cover of 2021 (tied with Thomas Colligan’s work for Mona). Jury member Erik Carter comments:\n\n> I love how this cover plays with Western tropes—a cowboy hat, handkerchief, and slab serif typography—but then subverts them with a healthy dash of campiness and fun that you rarely see in the genre.\n\nThe title appears to be in caps from **Egyptian Ornamented**. The condensed face with mid-stem spurs was first shown in wood in 1870 and was digitized by mpressInteractive in 2013. I’m not sure about the author’s name. It could be **Clarified JNL** , a 2020 digitization of a Clarendon Extended – but with squeezed letterforms. The small bits – “A novel” and R.O.
