“The Lives They Lived” is an annual special issue of the New York Times Magazine, published at the end of each year. The edition honors notable artists, innovators, and thinkers who died during the previous twelve months.

The 2024 issue was designed by Annie Jen under the direction of Gail Bichler. The typography combines Farmacia by Nguyen Gobber for headlines withTimezone by HAL Typefaces and NYT Mag Sans andNYT Mag Serif by A2-TYPE for copy text.
