Emotions vs. Feelings
Back to basics with today's Daily Reminder – a little video clip for you.
At an event I once ran, somebody with a curious mind (a mind that wanted to put things into categories, in order to settle itself), asked me:
“What is the difference between emotions and feelings?”
It's not something I'd ever really considered until that moment, and in meandering my way to my own conclusions, I explored some of the basic principles behind how we experience all of life (which happens to include ‘feelings’ and ‘emotions’).
In doing so, I jumped from one metaphor to another, so this one features some of the greatest hits:
- Outside-in vs. Inside-Out (the teddy bear diagram)
- The inseparable nature of (the Principle of) Thought and Feeling, using a 50p coin to demonstrate
- The left & right hemisphere ways-of-being
- Thought system content vs. Awareness of Thought system and how ‘where you're coming from’ makes all the difference.
