It was a calmer winter that year but there was still frost on the grass, and I could see my breath in the air in front of me. I went mostly to see what the river was like during the winter. All the greens were shades of brown, yellow and red. The river was a dark blue that just felt cold to look at. But the sun was out, and the frost was glittering, and the birds were making themselves heard. I snapped a bunch of photos and have since created several paintings from the experience. This one just screams \"frosty morning\" to me.\n\nSome photos from the frosty river morning excursion.\n\n* * *\n\nTonight was also a portrait session night for me, so here's what I managed to create. I dipped out about an hour early, as I was at a good stopping point and overcome by an immense bout of weariness. I'm glad I left early, but I'm also glad I went. I haven't been painting as much the past week, so it was nice to do just that, and for it to turn out alright.\n\n-ZR\n\nTonight's portrait session result",
