What is it, why is it, and why are you here living yours?\n\nThis has a little to do with questions about your purpose in life, which we explored briefly here. But rather than wondering about _your place in Life_ , I am inviting you to wonder about Life's place in the Whole Thing — all of existence, beyond your human experience.\n\nI pose this pondering from the perspective that I, you, we all, are souls. As I have said before, this is the essential truth upon which The Mindful Mage™ School for Spiritual Discovery is founded. So, from this perspective, what is Life to the soul?\n\n## Your Perspective on Life Shapes Your Experience of Life\n\nThis is so very important, and yet, no one ever spoke to me about this when I was younger. And it's no surprise. Most people in our modern society don't really think about Life all that much. They just live it, meandering through their own lives, trying to make it work, trying to find their way without ever going too deep. Nothing wrong with this, nothing at all. It's entirely possible to live a good live without ever asking these deeper questions. People do it all the time.\n\nBut you are here because _you_ ask the deeper questions. _You_ wonder what Life really is.\n\nWell, good. Because, whether one is aware of it or not, there exist inner belief systems which shape one's experience of Life. These inner belief systems are _unconscious_ — until explored consciously. And all the while they are unconscious, they are inexplicable, beyond language, unable to be spoken of. So deep within, that one has no idea these beliefs exist.\n\nAnd if you are unaware of the belief systems within you, then you are unaware of why _your_ experience of Life is the way it is _for you_ (Life is different for everyone, you know).\n\n> You can transform your relationship with Life, your experience of Life, by changing your perspective on what Life is.\n\n## Try On This Perspective: Life is a School for the Soul\n\nYou have been to school. Public school, private school, home school, college, online courses, whatever the case may be. Perhaps you are currently attending classes. In fact, you are reading a teaching from The Mindful Mage™ School for Spiritual Discovery right now!\n\nSo, you know what \"school\" is like. You comprehend the concept of \"school\". Good.\n\nNow, what if Life itself is a school?\n\nWhat if Life is a school for the soul?\n\n### Imagine this:\n\nYou are a soul, existing beyond time and space as we know it here, exploring ways to grow and learn and evolve. You come across something called \"Life on Earth\". You have heard about it from other souls who have been there before, perhaps many times. They keep returning there because they learn and grow so much from the experiences they gather there.\n\n> \"Life. Hmm...\" you wonder.\n\nAnd you decide to explore it for yourself. You browse through all of the possible lives you could live, throughout all time, all places, everywhere and everywhen. You see an overview of each life. You see the parents who would give you your body and raise you through childhood. You see all of the major life lessons you would learn by living each of those lives. You see your birth, your death, and everything in between (with freedom of choice about some of the smaller details).\n\n> \"Yes. This one. I want to live this life.\"\n\nAnd so you enroll in the School of Life. You incarnate. You are born to the parents you chose. Most likely, you forget that you chose this life before entering it (some people remember this though). And so you go through your life, having all kinds of experiences, learning all kinds of lessons along the way...\n\nUntil you find yourself right here, right now, reading these words. Yes! Here you are, dear Seeker! Welcome!\n\n## Class is Always in Session when Life is a School for the Soul\n\nWell? What do you think? Do you like this perspective? Dislike it? Somewhere in between?\n\nHowever you feel about it, I invite you to explore this perspective for a little while. Notice how it changes your experience of your own life.\n\nIf everything is a lesson, if everything is part of your curriculum, your own learning path...\n\nIf everything is meant to help you learn and grow and evolve...\n\nIf _you chose_ to enroll in the School of Life, knowing all that you would experience along the way...\n\n_How does that change your experience of Life?_\n\nFor me, this perspective feels empowering. Even when my life becomes very challenging, when I experience those challenges from the perspective that I am \"in class\", it all feels more _meaningful_. I don't feel like a victim of my circumstances.\n\n> I feel reassured that every experience is beneficial for me, every moment in which _I remember that I am a student_ in the School of Life.\n\nThis is just one possible perspective on what Life really is, and a particularly helpful one, in my experience.
