World's first global treaty on platform work adopted by ILO

GENEVA (AN) — Governments, employers and workers adopted the world's first global treaty governing platform work, establishing a global labor standard for hundreds of millions of people who earn income through digital platforms.

Delegates at the International Labour Conference on Friday approved a new convention covering workers in the platform economy, including ride-hailing drivers, food delivery couriers and online freelancers whose work is organized through digital applications and algorithms.
