The United Nations has sharply increased its humanitarian appeal for Lebanon, warning that four months of war have evolved from an emergency displacement crisis into a longer-term challenge for the country's infrastructure, public services and social stability.
The U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs is seeking nearly $640 million over the next six months, more than double the amount requested when hostilities escalated in March.
