GENEVA (AN) — The World Health Organization declared an Ebola outbreak in Congo and Uganda a global health emergency, warning that the spread of the Bundibugyo strain may be far larger than currently detected and reported.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus determined that the outbreak constitutes a "public health emergency of international concern" under the International Health Regulations, though he said it does not meet the criteria of a pandemic emergency.
