UAE to exit OPEC, seeking a strategic shift and more production flexibility

The United Arab Emirates said it will leave the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and the broader OPEC+ alliance, marking a significant shift for one of the group’s long-standing members as it seeks greater flexibility over production policy.
The decision, announced by the state news agency WAM on Tuesday, will take effect May 1 and follows what officials described as "a comprehensive review of the UAE’s production policy and its current and future capacity."
