Strikes near Iranian landmarks test protections for cultural heritage

Damage to historic monuments in Iran has raised new concerns about the protection of cultural heritage as the Iran war widens across the Middle East.
The United Nations’ cultural agency warned this week that several historic sites in Iran have been affected by nearby airstrikes, including structures associated with the Golestan Palace complex in Tehran and landmarks in the historic city of Isfahan.
