"textContent": "This is my report on activities of the [Mozilla Foundation][Mozilla] for the week ending April 28, 2006. This week I worked on a number of different projects, with no major theme standing out.\n\nProjects for the week\n\nHere’s a partial listing of what I and others at the Foundation did the week ending April 28:\n\n- XTech conference. Gerv Markham will be attending the [XTech conference][XTech] in Amsterdam May 16--19 representing the Mozilla Foundation.\n\n Next action(s): Work to ensure that all necessary arrangements are made for conference attendees being sponsored by the Foundation.\n\n- NetSquared conference. I registered for the NetSquared conference May 30--31 in San Jose. I also had a phone conversation with a couple of representatives of [CompuMentor][] (the organization sponsoring the NetSquared conference) to discuss the goals of the conference.\n\n Next action(s): Make travel arrangements.\n\n- CA certificates and Mozilla. I had some email correspondence and a phone conversation regarding how Certification Authorities involved in academic grid computing initiatives might get their CA certificates included in Mozilla-based products. (For some background on this topic see the [proceedings of the recent NIST PKI R&D Workshop][proceedings].)\n\n Next action(s): If it’s warranted I might schedule a meeting later this year to discuss this general topic with representatives of various academic networks working in this space.\n\n- GPLv3. I provided detailed feedback to [Discussion Committee A][comm-a] highlighting confusing language in section 7 of the [GPLv3 draft][] (on license compatibility) and requesting clarifications if possible.\n\n Next action(s): Put together a final set of comments in time for the May 15 deadline for the first round of comments.\n\n- Gerv Markham. [Gerv’s surgery went well][gerv] and he will be working on Mozilla stuff again soon.\n\n Next action(s): Pass back to Gerv various tasks I was doing during his absence.\n\nUpcoming activities\n\nHere’s what I’ll be doing and where I’ll be in the coming months.\n\n- I’ll be visiting the [Center for History and New Media][chnm] in Fairfax CA on May 11.\n- I’ll be attending the NetSquared conference in San Jose CA on May 30--31.\n- I’ll be in Mountain View CA sometime in June or July for a Mozilla Foundation board meeting.\n\nThis concludes the report.\n\n[CompuMentor]: http://www.compumentor.org/\n[net2]: http://www.netsquared.org/conference\n[XTech]: http://xtech06.usefulinc.com/content/about\n[proceedings]: http://middleware.internet2.edu/pki06/proceedings/\n[comm-a]: http://gplv3.fsf.org/discussion-committees/A/committee-A-bios\n[GPLv3 draft]: http://gplv3.fsf.org/draft\n[gerv]: http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/gerv/archives/2006/04/im_out.html\n[chnm]: http://chnm.gmu.edu/\n[Mozilla]: http://www.mozillafoundation.org/",
