"textContent": "This is my report on activities of the [Mozilla Foundation][Mozilla] for the week ending May 19, 2006.\n\nProjects for the week\n\nHere’s a partial listing of what I and others at the Foundation did the week ending May 19:\n\n- XTech. Gerv Markham attended the XTech conference in Amsterdam and did a [blog post][] about his experiences. Gerv’s comments about the nature and purpose of XTech sparked a public discussion to which I contributed a comment. (Basically my point was that I’m happy with XTech as far as the Foundation is concerned; however I also see the possible usefulness of having a separate meeting focused solely on Mozilla stuff.) See also [Daniel Glazman’s post][glazman] responding to Gerv and Robert O’Callahan, as well as [Mike Beltzner’s report][beltzner] on the conference itself and [Tristan Nitot’s XTech wrap-up][tristan].\n\n Next action(s): I’m going to discuss with the Mozilla Corporation plans for future conferences, including proposals to have a European meeting targeted specifically to Mozilla contributors.\n\n- Accessibility grants. Work related to the previous grants for OS X and XForms accessibility is proceeding apace.\n\n Next action(s): I’m still trying to get another accessibility grant under way.\n\n- CA certificates and Mozilla. I approved the application from [StartCom][] to have its root CA certificate included in Mozilla-based products ([bug 289077][]).\n\n Next action(s): Start working on other pending CA applications.\n\n- Administrivia. I took a day of vacation.\n\n Next action(s): None at this time.\n\nUpcoming activities\n\nHere’s what we’ll be doing and where we’ll be in the coming months.\n\n- I’ll be attending the [NetSquared conference][netsquared] in San Jose CA on May 30--31, and staying over on June 1 for other Mozilla-related activities.\n- I’ll be in Mountain View CA sometime in July for a Mozilla Foundation board meeting.\n- Assuming nothing else interferes, I’m planning to attend at least part of the [O’Reilly Open Source Convention][oscon] in Portland OR July 24--28.\n\nThis concludes the report.\n\n[blog post]: http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/gerv/archives/2006/05/why_xtech.html\n[beltzner]: http://www.beltzner.ca/mike/archives/2006/05/22/xxxtech_report.html\n[glazman]: http://glazman.org/weblog/dotclear/index.php?2006/05/21/1798-answer-to-gerv-and-roc\n[vlad]: http://blog.vlad1.com/archives/2006/05/17/106/\n[tristan]: http://standblog.org/blog/2006/05/22/93114796-xtech-wrap-up\n[StartCom]: http://cert.startcom.org/\n[bug 289077]: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=289077\n[netsquared]: http://www.netsquared.org/conference\n[oscon]: http://conferences.oreillynet.com/os2006/\n[Mozilla]: http://www.mozillafoundation.org/",
