"textContent": "This is my report on my activities related to the [Mozilla Foundation][Mozilla] for the week ending April 13, 2007.\n\nProjects for the week\n\nHere’s a partial listing of what I did this past week:\n\n- Grants and related activities. I committed to speak at the July 2 meeting of the [National Federation of the Blind in Computer Science][nfbcs] group in Atlanta; thanks to Curtis Chong for inviting the Mozilla Foundation to be represented there. I also attended a dinner with members of the [W3C WAI Protocols and Formats Working Group][pfwg] (the folks working on [WAI-ARIA][] and related initiatives); thanks to Aaron Leventhal for inviting me and to Tom Wlodkowski of AOL for hosting the dinner. Finally, I worked on some stuff related to the upcoming [W4A meeting][w4a] sponsored by the Foundation.\n\n Next action(s): Make more progress on the action items arising from [CSUN][] and G3ICT. Do a blog post summarizing our accessibility-related efforts, as well as a brief meeting report on CSUN and G3ICT.\n\n- CA certificates. I cleared out my inbox and sent Gerv Markham all remaining correspondence I could find relating to pending CA requests. Gerv has basically taken over this effort now.\n\n Next action(s): None at this time.\n\n- IP/legal issues. Due to competing priorities, I again didn’t make any progress on the proposed corporate contributors agreement ([bug 342029][]).\n\n Next action(s): Spend more time on getting the contributors agreement moved forward.\n\n- Other. See also the status reports for last week from [Gerv][gerv-status] and [Zak][zak-status].\n\nUpcoming activities\n\n- I’ll be in Atlanta on July 2 for the NFB CS meeting mentioned above.\n- I have a tentative travel commitment for July 30--31.\n\nRandom notes\n\nI spent some spare time last week tracking down works from some of the artists featured in the [Alex Ross article][sites] I mentioned last week; first up for listening are [Nico Muhly][muhly] and [Slow Six][ss]. I thought by this time I had at least a passing acquaintance with the general area of “contemporary classical,” but it’s interesting to see how many worthwhile artists I keep stumbling upon of whom I was previously unaware.\n\nOn a somewhat related topic, be sure to read the recent _New York Times Magazine_ article “[Is Justin Timberlake a Product of Cumulative Advantage?][watts]”; it’s an eye-opening look at the impossibility of predicting what becomes popular and what doesn’t, both in the music world and beyond.\n\n[nfbcs]: http://www.nfb.org/nfb/NFB_computer_science.asp\n[pfwg]: http://www.w3.org/WAI/PF/\n[WAI-ARIA]: http://www.w3.org/TR/aria-roadmap/\n[w4a]: http://www.w4a.info\n[g3ict]: http://www.g3ict.com/\n[CSUN]: http://www.csun.edu/cod/conf/\n[bug 342029]: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=342029\n[gerv]: http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/gerv/\n[gerv-status]: http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/gerv/archives/2007/04/weekly_status_20070413.html\n[zak-status]: http://zak.greant.com/mozilla-foundation-weekly-status-20070413/\n[sites]: http://www.newyorker.com/online/2007/04/16/070416on_ross\n[muhly]: http://www.nicomuhly.com/\n[ss]: http://www.slowsix.com/\n[watts]: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/15/magazine/15wwlnidealab.t.html\n[Mozilla]: http://www.mozillafoundation.org/",
