This is my report on my activities related to the Mozilla Foundation for the week ending April 20, 2007.

Projects for the week

Here’s a partial listing of what I did this past week:

  • Grants and related activities. I approved two new accessibility-related proposals, and send another to the Mozilla Foundation board for consideration; more information to come later as things progress..

Next action(s): Finish paperwork for new work being funded. Do a blog post summarizing our accessibility-related efforts, as well as a brief meeting report on CSUN and G3ICT.

  • IP/legal issues. Due to competing priorities, I again didn’t make any progress on the proposed corporate contributors agreement (bug 342029).

Next action(s): Spend more time on getting the contributors agreement moved forward.

  • Other. I published a blog post discussing my intention to step down as executive director of the Foundation. I published the Mozilla Manifesto and the current Mozilla Foundation statement of direction to www.mozilla.org.

Next action(s): Help put together a plan for community involvement in the search for a new executive director.

Upcoming activities

  • I have a house move tentatively scheduled for May 4, so I’ll be mostly unreachable around that time until the chaos settles down.
  • I’ll be in Atlanta on July 2 to speak at annual meeting of the National Federation of the Blind in Computer Science.
  • I’m considering attending at least part of OSCON 2007 July 23--27.
  • I’ll tentatively be in Boston on July 30--31.

Random notes

Prompted by blog posts and other news about the Yuri’s Night event at NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View on April 13, I recently engaged in some space advocacy nostalgia.
