Ghost World
It's not often that we have to take a result off the board, but that's the word that came down Wednesday afternoon from Hermon.
Hermon lost in the 8th inning when Hampden's ghost runner scored the only run of the game on a bases-loaded bunt.
Only, they weren't supposed to have a ghost runner in the 8th inning. The ghost runner doesn't kick in until the 10th inning (also: why are we doing a ghost runner at all?) and so somewhere between everyone leaving the game Tuesday night with the knowledge Hampden won and about 1:30 Wednesday afternoon, the MPA determined the game needs to be replayed from the 8th inning on.
Does this impact who makes the tournament? Nope.
So the next question is: if this mistake impacted both teams equally, why do we need to replay the game from the error? It's a fair question. There's precedent from earlier this year. the Medomak and Leavitt girls had to replay the last couple minutes of a game because of a clock issue, even though the result was essentially determined. But essentially determined is different from actually determined and this game was actually determined. The umps walked off the field and everyone went home.
From the bulletin:
It wasn't brought up before the resumption of play. We know that because the Ticket would have noticed that as they were broadcasting the game and they didn't. So I'm not really sure why we're replaying a result that went final.
But we are!
Even beyond the extra ghost runner, the officials didn't do themselves any favors.
That's a rough look. You've gotta pick safe or out and stick with it. You can't waffle on a walk-off squeeze play, especially after you screwed up something as simple as which inning to start using the ghost runner.
It's no wonder they're using different officials to finish out the game.
The win moved Hampden to the 5 seed in A North, but now we're back to where we started. Hampden will be the 7 seed with a loss or the 5 seed with a win. Hermon, I believe, stays at 1 regardless, but I also keep finding missing games (Bapst, I'm begging you to figure out how to report your schedules).

It's not often that an athlete does something that's never been done before, but it's believed Windham's Abby Trainor did just that when she notched her 400th career point earlier this week
To put it in a basketball context, Cindy Blodgett leads everyone with 2,565 points, so I guess it would be like if someone got to 2,600 in basketball...or maybe even more?
She's also 7 goals shy of 300. Between the season finale today and at least one playoff game, it's certainly in range.

Agreed.
There's a new game to get sucked into while you're supposed to be working.
82-0 has a simple premise: can you build a lineup from NBA history that would go 82-0? The game randomly picks a franchise and a decade for each player in your lineup (i.e. Houston in the 2010's). Select a player and it randomly gives you a different team and decade.
There's 2 versions: HoopIQ, where the stats are hidden and you have to know ball, and Classic, where they give you the stats and that is obviously cheating.

I believe we've got 2 playoff tickets to hand out on this, the bonus day of the Spring sports regular season.
In B South Baseball, Mountain Valley is trying to hold off GNG for the last spot. They both play today.
Class A Boys LAX is a little more complicated.
Portland and Cape are in. Hampden is mostly in. Bonny Eagle is likely safe. And SoPo is the most at risk.
Really it depends on Windham. If they can beat Scarborough (the Model says they're 1 goal underdogs) and get a little help, they can sneak in.

Conveniently, that's the Game of the Day!
