Americans are losing faith in the Supreme Court

Can Americans still trust the Supreme Court? Bazelon points to major rulings on abortion, voting rights, and presidential immunity that have made the Court appear increasingly political to many Americans. Yet she argues that the judiciary has also remained one of the strongest institutional constraints on the Trump administration, particularly when it comes to election disputes and executive overreach.

"If Trump does something that's blatantly transparently illegal, the justices are going to feel, I think institutionally, that it's important for them to stop it," Bazelon says.
