In that time, it has grossed about 370 million dollars. It has climbed to the top of countless best of 2025 lists. And now it’s nominated for sixteen Oscars. One of those nominations is for Best Original Song. "I Lied To You," which was written by composer Ludwig Goransson and Raphael Saadiq. Aside from being the writer of one of the biggest movie songs in recent history, Raphael Saadiq is a singer and songwriter who’s made five acclaimed records under his own name. And with his brother and cousin, he founded Tony! Toni! Toné!, one of the most exciting groups in R&B history. Raphael joined us to chat about Sinners and what he thought when he saw the song he wrote come to life in the film. He also told us about playing bass guitar as a teen in church bands, and the final tour he got to go on with his late brother D’Wayne. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPiaGtv5P0c&t=21s
