In what is becoming a familiar refrain, a new drone has been announced, along with a bunch of conflicting information that all leads to the conclusion that it will likely not be available to drone operators and aerial cinematographers in the United States.

Following in the steps of many DJI drone announcements, and as a potential rival to its best aerial products, Potensic has followed up its popular Atom 2 drone with a new, more powerful Atom 3. Set to feature GPS, a 4K 3-axis gimbal, and a very long video transmission range, this could be exciting for those who can get their hands on it.

Let’s check out the new Potensic Atom 3.

The New Potensic Atom 3 Drone

Again, it’s getting quite difficult to keep track of which new drones are available where, as many of these announcements call themselves “global” launches but end up not being available in the US. So, we may be wrong, and this new Atom 3 could be flying in the skies in the US soon, but according to other reports, that likely won’t be the case.

Still, if you live outside of the US, or are hoping for good news, then the Potensic Atom 3 is quite exciting as it is set to feature a 50MP camera with a 1/1.3” image sensor capable of 4K60 HDR video and 50MP stills.

It will also feature slick stabilization, 16KM HD video transmission, superior AI night mode, P-Log recording, and all packed into a package weighing less than 250g.

4K HDR Video and Transmission

The big news for aerial cinematographers, aerial videographers, and filmmakers looking for unique “eye in the sky” shots: the Atom 3 will feature high-end video recording support, native 2.7K vertical shooting, and 7x slow motion at 1080p.

It’s not quite a high-end rival to the top DJI options on the market, but for a beginner or intermediate-level offering, it should have pretty much everything an aerial content creator needs to fly high and capture useful footage and shots for all types of projects.

Price and Availability

Just announced, the Atom 3 drone is available in several kit options, with the lowest starting price currently at $429.

For more info, you can head to the company’s website where you can sign up for preorders, as well as check to see if it’s available in your area.
