What We Know About the Film
The standalone sequel/continuation of Tarantino's 2019 smash-hit Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood. follows Brad Pitt in his return to his Academy Award-winning role as stuntman Cliff Booth.
According to the official logline, the story jumps forward to 1977, navigating a "very different Hollywood" where Booth reportedly works as a studio fixer.
Tarantino has said that while he loved the script, he didn't want it to serve as his tenth and final movie, so he gave it to Fincher to pursue.
Pitt will be joined by a massive ensemble including Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Peter Weller.
Timothy Olyphant is set to reprise his role as James Stacy from the original film as well, and Leonardo DiCaprio was reportedly approached and offered a ton of money to cameo as Rick Dalton, but turned it down.
Fincher has reunited his longtime creative team to take on the movie:
- Cinematography: Oscar-winner Erik Messerschmidt (Mank , Mindhunter)
- Production Design: Donald Graham Burt
- Editing: Kirk Baxter
- Score: Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, marking their sixth collaboration with Fincher.
A two-week exclusive IMAX window is a massive statement of faith from Netflix, which must think this could be its Oscar play.
