"textContent": "\n\n\n\nWhile the new a7R VI might be the most exciting new camera in Sony’s mirrorless lineup, the company has quietly rolled out a pretty significant update for its a7 V that is set to make it much friendlier for filmmakers and pro video creators.\n\nThe Sony a7V is getting a new firmware update (version 2.00) that is set to add 32-bit float recording. Although this will only be available with an XLR-A4 adapter, which is sold separately, it’s a significant improvement nonetheless.\n\nLet’s take a look at everything new coming to the Sony a7V with the new firmware version 2.00 and how you can download it today.\n\n* * *\n\n### Sony a7V Firmware Update\n\n\n\n\nAdding 32-bit float recording to any camera that didn’t previously have this level of audio recording quality is pretty significant. This new firmware update will allow high-quality audio recording up to 96 kHz, 32-bit float when used with the Sony XLR-A4 adapter. This adapter is easy to attach to the camera’s multi-interface shoe and is worth the investment if you care about audio quality.\n\nThe update also adds support for the Preset Focus function with lenses that do not have power zoom, new display options to show the focal length down to one decimal place, and other helpful updates.\n\nHere’s the full list of new features, benefits, and improvements coming to the Sony a7V with this latest firmware update:\n\n * Allows high-quality audio recording (96 kHz, 32-bit float) when the XLR-A4 adapter (sold separately) is attached to the Multi Interface Shoe\n * Adds support for the Preset Focus function with lenses that do not have power zoom\n * Some zoom lenses without power zoom are not supported. For more details, please visit the following page: (https://support.d-imaging.sony.co.jp/www/cscs/lens_body/).\n * Supports displaying the focal length down to one decimal place\n * Allows simultaneous Delete and Rating of images recorded on both memory card slot 1 and slot 2\n * Allows the display of folder names and file names during playback\n * Allows you to cancel the scheduled transfer of selected images during FTP* transfer\n * *FTP = File Transfer Protocol\n * Adds support for the following Transfer & Tagging settings:\n * A setting to automatically schedule FTP transfer of protected still images from FTP Import\n * A setting to automatically schedule FTP transfer of protected still images and videos from FTP Upload Preset\n * A setting to automatically protect still images transferred via FTP from FTP Upload Preset\n * A setting for configuring the SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) server\n * The latest version of the Transfer & Tagging setting is necessary.\n * Note: The Transfer & Tagging setting may not be available in some countries or regions.\n * Supports the Write Digital Signature function for movies as part of Sony’s Camera Authenticity Solution\n * The timing for the provision of licenses (paid) to customers other than certain media outlets is yet to be determined.\n * Services may not be available in some countries or regions. For more information, please visit the Authenticity Catalog Page.\n * Supports Scan and Tag, Photo Cropping, and Volume Photography Commands under the Volume Photography License\n * Installation of a paid license is required for use.\n * The license is scheduled to become available from late May 2026 onwards.\n * Note: Services may not be available in some countries or regions.\n * Ends support for updating the lens firmware via the menu using a memory card\n * Note: Please use the Windows/Mac OS software update tool to update the lens firmware.\n * Fixes an issue where recording may not be possible when shooting movies with the ECM-M1 (sold separately) attached\n * Improves the operational stability of the camera\n\n\n\n### How to Download and Install\n\n\n\n\nIf you feel ready to dive into this new firmware update (despite there being something to be said about waiting a bit just to make sure everything runs all right with these changes), then here’s what to keep in mind before updating.\n\n * If you are updating from Ver. 1.00, please follow these steps before starting the update:\n 1. Set the Wi-Fi Connect setting to Off.\n 2. Set the Cnct. while Power OFFsetting to Off.\n 3. Turn off the camera.\n 4. Remove the battery, then reinsert it.\n * You can download the software update using the Creators' App available in the App Store and Google Play.\n\n\n\nFor more info, check out the update details on Sony’s website here.",
