A New Node-Based AI Compositor is Here for Your VFX and Virtual Production Pipelines
While the last few weeks have been focused on the many new cameras and traditional digital filmmaking improvements announced, we haven’t had quite as much AI-based news to share with y’all. However, as we all know, that has been likely to change at any moment… and here we are.
Beeble AI, best known for its various video-to-VFX pipelines, has a new node-based AI compositor out called Canvas that aims to combine AI models, batch iteration workflows, and programmable production automation to your VFX, post, and virtual production workflows.
Let’s take a look at what’s going on with this next-gen compositing tool and see what it could offer for your high-end VFX workflows. You know, if that’s something you might be into.
Beeble Launches Canvas
Announced as a new option for filmmakers, studios, agencies, or any other manner of AI-supportive content creators, Beeble AI’s new Canvas visual compositing platform combines AI video models, compositing utilities, and visual workflow automation into a single production system designed around creating controllable, iterative pipelines that can allow teams to possibly refine and scale work across multiple shots.
“Professional VFX workflows demand precision, flexibility, and iteration. Canvas brings AI models, compositing tools, and workflow automation into a single visual environment where artists can experiment, iterate, and build production-ready results faster.” - Hoon Kim, Co-founder and CEO of Beeble.
This new Canvas platform is set to include native access to the company’s other AI models, including SwitchX for video-to-video transformation, and SwitchLight for generating physically based rendering (PBR) passes such as normal maps, alongside integrated AI rotoscoping tools.
This new system is also set to support external generative and utility models, allowing for further combinations of AI-generated content with your traditional compositing techniques, all based on this new visual interface.
Price and Availability
Overall, this is another bold new technology that uses AI to speed up workflows and possibly improve the efficiency of your pipelines. However, as is the case with most new VFX tools, especially AI ones, it will remain to be seen whether this is just a big promise or something pros can actually use and benefit from.
