The Panasonic LUMIX Lab App to Get Wired Connection and RAW Editing Support

A new update for the Panasonic LUMIX smartphone app is on the way, the company announced, with version 3.0.0 set to be available for free starting next week (May 20th) via app stores. While not a major update, it’s not insignificant for Panasonic LUMIX shooters, as it is set to add some interesting new features and functionality.

Let’s take a look at this upcoming LUMIX Lab 3.0.0 update and what you can expect to start getting excited, or at least ready, to check out.

Announced for a new update (version 3.0.0) for the LUMIX Lab app set to be available next week, this latest update is going to add some new support to the app, including RAW editing support, a Slow & Quick video editing mode, new LUT parameters such as grain, color noise, sharpness, and noise reduction, and some other across-the-board bug fixes and improvements.

The other big news is that the LUMIX Lab app will support wired connections, which should help speed up file transfers and provide a more stable connection. This update feature is limited to LUMIX L10 and S9 cameras, with new firmware updates (version 2.0) coming out as well.

LUMIX Lab App Ver. 3.0.0

  • RAW editing support has been added, enabling more detailed editing tailored to user preferences.
  • Slow & Quick (S&Q) video editing has been added, allowing users to edit dynamic video scenes directly on their smartphones.
  • Camera firmware update can be performed via the LUMIX Lab app.
  • LUTs can now be created with additional parameters such as grain, color noise, sharpness, and noise reduction.
  • The app’s UI has been updated.

Features limited to LUMIX L10 and S9 (Ver.2.0)

  • My Photo Style can now be edited within the app for greater customization.
  • Wired connection is now supported for transferring images, LUTs and My Photo Style edits, allowing for faster file transfers and more stable connection.
  • LUTs created with additional parameters such as grain, color noise, sharpness, and noise reduction can be applied directly in-camera to photos and videos using REAL TIME LUT.

LUMIX S9 Ver. 2.0

  • Support for LUMIX Lab app ver.3.0.0 has been added.
    1. My Photo Style can now be edited within the app for greater customization.
    2. Wired connection is now supported for transferring images, LUTs and My Photo Style edits, allowing for faster file transfers and more stable connection.
    3. LUTs created with additional parameters such as grain, color noise, sharpness, and noise reduction can be applied directly in-camera to photos and videos using REAL TIME LUT. (*5)
