"textContent": "\n\n\n\nNot to be outdone by one of its biggest rivals, just an hour after Canon unveiled its new EOS R6 V, Sony has revealed its new R-series camera, the a7R VI.\n\nWhile ideally a bit more of a photography camera than a videography camera (in contrast to the new EOS R6 V, which was just announced), the a7R VI looks to be a nice upgrade for one of Sony’s most popular and capable hybrid content creation cameras.\n\nSet to feature a newly developed 66.8MP Exmor RS BSI sensor, which will be the highest-resolution full-frame, fully stacked sensor in an a7 camera to date, the a7R VI will be more than capable of serving as a top-end mirrorless option for photographers and videographers alike.\n\nLet’s take a look at the new Sony a7R VI and explore what it is set to bring to the game.\n\n* * *\n\n### The New Sony a7R VI Mirrorless Camera\n\n\n\n\nPowered by a 66.8MP Full-Frame Fully Stacked CMOS sensor, the Sony a7R VI is set to achieve 5.6x faster readout speeds than previous models and provide an improved AI-based processing system for more intelligent AF, AE, and AWB functions across the board, as this really is a big step forward for the brand in terms of speed and intelligence for the camera line.\n\n> \"The Alpha 7R series stands for image quality you can trust on screen, in print, and in the most demanding conditions. The Alpha 7R VI takes that further with the speed, intelligence, battery life, and viewfinder quality our creators have been asking for. Every decision strengthens what this series does best and makes it work harder for the people who rely on it.\" — Yang Cheng, Vice President of Imaging Solutions, Sony Electronics Inc.\n\nStill, while Sony’s reputation for quality and science will remain, the big selling points for this new a7R VI will be the BSI CMOS sensor's ability to deliver rich image quality with high clarity, low shadow noise, and a wider 16-stop dynamic range compared to previous generations.\n\n### Full-Frame 8K 30p Video\n\n\n\n\nPhoto-features aside, which are understandably at the top of the spec sheet for this new Sony a7R VI, there are some pretty awesome video specs and features to check out as well. The big news here is that the top-end recording format will be a 10-bit, full-frame 8K 30/24p level via 8.2K oversampling.\n\nThe Sony a7R VI will also be able to record 4K 120p via 5K oversampling with full pixel readout. And when using a Super 35 recording area, 4K 60p footage can use 6.3K oversampling for improved detail, or 4K 120 high-speed recording is possible with 4.6K oversampling.\n\nThe a7R VI will also include the S-Cinetone profile, S-Log2/3 gamma curves, ProRes RAW output over HDMI, and the ability to import LUTs to offer greater color control for different recording needs.\n\nAI is another big theme for the a7R VI, as the camera will feature new AI subject recognition technology powered by its AI Processing Unit, which will improve its Framing Stabilizer mode and enable automatic cropping and recomposition so the subject remains centered in the image.\n\n### Price and Availability\n\n\n\n\nAs mentioned with the other major new camera announcement today, there will be a lot more to say and explore with this Sony a7R VI over the coming weeks and months. Regardless of which brand you prefer, this is a great day for filmmakers and all manner of content creators, as some awesome new cameras have been added to the market for your consideration.\n\nIf you’d like to find out more about the Sony a7R VI, here are the full specs and purchase options.\n\n * 66.8MP FF Stacked Exmor RS BSI Sensor\n * 30 fps Shooting with AF/AE & Pre-Capture\n * AI-Based Real-time Recognition AF+\n * 8K 30/4K 120 10-Bit Video + Dual Gain\n * 16-Stop Dynamic Range + AI-Based AWB\n * 8.5-Stop IBIS + Composite Raw Shooting\n * 9.44m-Dot EVF with 120 fps Refresh Rate\n * 3.2\" 2.1m-Dot 4-Axis Touchscreen LCD\n * Illuminated Buttons + New Battery & Grip\n * Dual CFexpress Type A/SD Card Slots\n\n\n\n### Sony a7R VI Mirrorless Camera\n\n\n\n\nBlurring the line of what's possible in an R-series camera, the **Sony a7R VI** pairs the highest resolution sensor yet in an a7 body with incredible 30 fps speed, impressive 8K video capabilities, more intelligent AI-aided autofocus, and improved handling and battery life.",
