DJI Launches New Budget and Beginner-Friendly Drones With New Lito X1 and Lito 1
Continuing perhaps the most disappointing non-AI trend of the past year or so, DJI has announced another awesome new aerial camera drone that likely won’t be available to customers in the United States.
DJI has launched its new beginner-friendly (and budget-friendly, for that matter) camera drone series with the introduction of the Lito X1 and Lito 1. These new drone options are entry-level models with beginner-friendly designs, similar to the DJI Neo.
However, the Lito X1 and Lito 1 do look quite capable and are set to offer some pretty compelling specs and features for aerial cinematography, with solid sensors and improved flight capabilities for bigger, longer outdoor projects.
They’re also not likely to be available in the US anytime soon. So, if you’re outside of the US, or simply a glutton for disappointment, here’s what you need to know.
DJI Launches Lito X1 and Lito 1 Drones
Just announced by DJI, this new series of aerial camera drones is designed for beginners and those aspiring to enter the aerial content creation space for the first time. The Lito series features two entry-level aerial camera drones that are tailored for high-altitude photography and videography.
DJI states that the goal here is to be the perfect first camera drone for a young newcomer getting into aerial content for the first time, looking for outdoor adventures and basic controls, yet sophisticated enough not to need an upgrade quickly as they level up their skills.
The premium version, the Lito X1, is set to feature a 1/1.3" CMOS sensor with 48MP effective pixels and will be equipped with advanced 5-lux omnidirectional obstacle sensing and forward-facing LiDAR for enhanced precision that should help ensure safe flights in the most complex of environments.
Meanwhile, the Lito 1 is set to feature a 1/2" CMOS 48MP sensor as well as comprehensive 5-lux omnidirectional obstacle sensing to further bring safety and other helpful tracking capabilities to a more accessible package offering.
Smarter Sensing and Safer Flying
Compared to the DJI Neo, these drones are quite similar in terms of sensors and recording capabilities. The real advancements here are with the Lito Series’ new multi-layered safety system, which DJI shares has been designed with beginners in mind.
This built-in omnidirectional vision system helps actively avoid obstacles like cliffs and walls, so operators can focus on the joy of drone flying from takeoff to landing. The premium Lito X1 model does take things a bit further, too, with its enhanced forward-facing LiDAR for more highly precise perception in complex environments.
As far as video specs go, the Lito 1 is equipped with a 1/2-inch CMOS sensor and an f/1.8 aperture to capture up to 8K-resolution photos and 4K-resolution video, and the Lito X1 uplevels the camera with a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor and an f/1.7 aperture that is capable of supporting HDR video recordings with up to 14 stops of dynamic range and 10-Bit D-Log M.
Price and Availability
These new DJI drones are set to be available for order starting today; however, they are unlikely to be available in the US. The price range is set to start at 339 EUR for the Lito 1 and 419 EUR for the Lito X1. If and when we have more info about any potential availability in the US, we’ll let you know.
For now, you can find more info on DJI’s website here.
