This Revolutionary New Camera From Blackmagic Design Could Change Cinematic Live Production Forever
Blackmagic Design isn’t holding back any punches when it comes to its NAB 2026 announcements, as the company has emptied the barrel (hopefully) by sharing all of its newest cameras, products, and updates here a week out from the conference in Las Vegas.
Alongside a new Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive 100G (the world’s first immersive cinema camera for live immersive productions), a major overhaul to DaVinci Resolve, and other new products, the company has also unveiled its new URSA Cine 12K LF 100G.
Designed to revolutionize live productions, this new model in the URSA Cine family will feature 100G Ethernet for high-frame-rate SMPTE-2110 live production output up to 440 fps, along with other impressive specs and features.
Here’s what you need to know.
Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF 100G
Building on the success of the previous URSA Cine 12K LF camera, Blackmagic Design is turning its sights on live production at NAB 2026, as this new model will bring the same large-format RGBW 36x24mm sensor to live video and add faster networking for cinematic live production workflows.
"URSA Cine 12K is an incredible camera for digital film, but we really wanted to bring that cinematic quality to live production, and the 100G Ethernet model lets us do that in a way nobody has seen before. With 100G Ethernet, customers can get cinematic-quality SMPTE-2110 live video at frame rates up to 440 fps, and the new Studio Viewfinder and B4 lens mount transform URSA Cine into a true broadcast camera. It's live cine, and we think it's going to be a revolution in image quality for broadcast!" - Grant Petty, Blackmagic Design CEO.
When this new model is set to SMPTE-2110 Live in the menu, it can instantly transform into a live studio camera, allowing users to receive real-time SMPTE-2110 IP video from the Ethernet connector, which supports up to 2160p60 with cinematic quality and 16 stops of dynamic range.
All specs are well beyond traditional broadcast cameras, further boosted by the 100G model, which can output live video at up to 440 fps for awesome slow-motion sports replays.
A Focus on Live Production
With this new camera model, Blackmagic’s advanced digital film camera can step into the live production space, aiming to deliver a new level of sophistication to this sphere. The company states that no other broadcast cameras can match this level of dynamic range, frame rates, or color science.
What’s cool about this model, too, is that it will feature a processing pipeline that can handle 3D LUTs for film, extended video, and video gamuts, so customers can customize output by loading their own LUTs. The LUTs can be applied after the color corrector, so corrections on top of full-film gamut will be possible, as will the use of preloaded LUTs, including Rec. 709, 2020, and PQ.
