"textContent": "\n\n\n\nAnother SXSW has come and gone, and those who made the trek to Austin, Texas, are likely all quite hungover and ready from gorging on brisket and tacos for a solid week. This year’s SXSW conference was quite unique in several ways, though. It was shorter and more compartmentalized.\n\nYet for those of us who were there to cover the Film & TV Festival section, it was a very nice return to form for the festival and conference, which had its challenges ahead after losing a couple of years to Covid shutdowns a few years ago.\n\nThis year’s Film & TV Festival was a hit, though, and saw some great film premieres, panels, and parties, which we were excited to be able to cover for y’all. If you’ve missed any interviews or panel write-ups, you can check them out here.\n\nHowever, if you’re curious to know which films and shows took home the big awards from this year’s Film & TV Festival, we have the full list of winners for you to browse below.\n\n## 2026 SXSW Film & TV Festival Jury and Special Award Winners\n\nFeaturing an array of films and projects across its different narrative, documentary, shorts, independent TV pilots, music videos, and several other categories, the 2026 SXSW Film & TV Festival gave us a lot of great films and content to watch this year.\n\n\"This week reminded me, once again, why we do this. The world has felt heavy. But inside our theaters, something extraordinary happened. Strangers became collaborators, audiences showed up with their whole hearts, and filmmaker after filmmaker reminded us exactly why we gather. We are so proud to celebrate this year's jury and special award winners. Trust us, you're going to be hearing a lot more from them.\" — Claudette Godfrey, VP, Film & TV.\n\nHere are all of the SXSW Film & TV Festival Jury and Special Award winners:\n\n'Wishful Thinking' Courtesy of SXSW\n\n### NARRATIVE FEATURE COMPETITION presented by Kickstarter\n\n**Winner:**_Wishful Thinking_ directed by Graham Parkes\n\n**Special Jury Award for Performance:** Susan Kent, _The Snake_\n\n**Special Jury Award for Screenwriting:** Robb Boardman, Cory Loykasek, Donny Divianian and Frankie Quinones, Plantman & Blondie: _A Dress Up Gang Film_\n\n## DOCUMENTARY FEATURE COMPETITION\n\n**Winner:**_Summer 2000: The X-Cetra Story_ directed by Ayden Mayeri\n\n**Special Jury Award:** _The Last Critic_ directed by Matty Wishnow\n\n**Special Jury Award:** _Stormbound_ directed by Miko Lim\n\n## SHORT FILM COMPETITION Presented by Vimeo\n\n### Narrative Short Competition\n\n**Winner** : _Souvenir_ directed by Renée Marie Petropoulos\n\n**Special Jury Award:** _Supper_ directed by Savannah Braswell\n\n### Documentary Short Competition\n\n**Winner** : _In The Morning Sun_ directed by Serville Poblete\n\n**Special Jury Award:** _Eructation_ directed by Victoria Trow\n\n### Animated Short Competition\n\n**Winner** : _Paper Trail_ directed by Don Hertzfeldt\n\n**Special Jury Award:** _Hag_ directed by Anna Ginsburg\n\n### Midnight Short Competition\n\n**Winner:**_Tongue_ directed by Lim Da seul\n\n**Special Jury Award:**_Man Eating Pussy_ directed by Emily Lawson\n\n### Texas Short Competition\n\n**Winner:**_Forcefield of Love_ directed by Liz Moskowitz and Riley Engemoen\n\n**Special Jury Award for Standout Ensemble:**_Stalin Boys_ directed by Ora DeKornfeld and Bianca Giaever\n\n'Fogata’\n\n## MUSIC VIDEO COMPETITION\n\n**Winner:** Rawayana and Bomba Estereo - ‘Fogata’ directed by Paola Ossa\n\n**Special Jury Award:** Doechii - 'Anxiety' directed by James Mackel\n\n## INDEPENDENT TV PILOT COMPETITION\n\n**Winner:** _In My Blood_ from Showrunner and Director Alex Bendo\n\n**Special Jury Award:**_Son of a Bikram_ from Showrunners and Screenwriters Ash T and Johnny Rey Diaz and Director Johnny Rey Diaz\n\n## XR EXPERIENCE COMPETITION\n\n**Winner:**_Body Proxy_ by Danny Cannizzaro and Samantha Gorman\n\n**Special Jury Award:** _The Forgotten War_ by Hayoun Kwon\n\n## SPECIAL AWARDS\n\n### Agog Immersive Impact Award\n\n**Winner:** _A Long Goodbye_ directed by Kate Voet and Victor Maes\n\n### Green Lens Award\n\n**Winner:**_Plantman & Blondie: A Dress Up Gang Film_ directed by Robb Boardman\n\n### Janet Pierson Champion Award\n\n**Winner:** Benjamin Wiessner\n\n### NEON Auteur Award\n\n**Winner:**_The Peril at Pincer Poin_ t directed by Jake Kuhn and Noah Stratton-Twine\n\n### Redbreast Unhidden Award\n\n**Winner:** _We Were Here_ directed by Pranav Bhasin\n\n### SXSW Best of Texas Award\n\n**Winner:**_Stages_ directed by Ryan Booth\n\n### Vimeo Staff Pick\n\n**Winner:**_Mantis Stream!
