Blackmagic Design Introduces a New, Lower-Cost Ultimatte Smart Remote
More big news for those looking for good deals and savings. Something we don’t often get to say these days, as most prices are going up for products in the film and video space due to tariffs and other market factors.
Still, days after Blackmagic Design announced that price drops were coming to many of their cameras and products, the same company has introduced a new Smart Remote that is pretty much the same as its previous model, but notably sees its price reduced.
Here’s what you need to know.
The New Blackmagic Design Smart Remote 4 G2
Designed to control up to eight Ultimatte units via 10/100/1000 Mb/s Ethernet, the Blackmagic Design Ultimatte Smart Remote 4 G2 features many of the same features as its previous version, but the company reports that it’s easier to manufacture now, so it will be priced at a lower cost.
The Blackmagic Design Ultimatte Smart Remote 4 G2 can be a great option as it will still feature a large display area, adjustable stand, and separate brightness controls for the display, as well as the button layout make for an ergonomic, user-friendly experience.
This new G2 version does replace the USB interfaces with USB-C ports for peripheral devices, but it also upgrades the Ethernet connectivity, adds an HDMI output with Full HD resolution support, and includes the Blackmagic Operating System.
Overall, the new controller can exist in the same Ultimatte ecosystem as its predecessor and works in tandem with current Ultimatte 12 processor models.
