  "textContent": "\n\n\n\nIf you own a Panasonic LUMIX S1RII, S1II, S1IIE, S5II, or S5IIX camera, then you’re probably going to want to get the latest firmware update installed here soon.\n\nThis is doubly true if you want to partner one of these cameras with the new Panasonic DMW-DMS1 Multi-Pattern Shotgun Microphone, which was _announced earlier this week_ and looks to be quite promising for run-and-gun videographers.\n\nThere are some other notable improvements, too, so here’s what you need to know.\n\n* * *\n\n### Panasonic LUMIX S Series Firmware Updates\n\n\n\n\nIntroduced for the following full-frame mirrorless LUMIX S cameras like the aforementioned S1RII, S1II, S1IIE, S5II, and S5IIX, these new firmware updates are primarily being released to allow for compatibility with the newly released DMW-DMS1 shotgun microphone.\n\nThe updates are also set to improve the video shooting experience overall, as well as to add support for the latest version of the LUMIX Smartphone app (LUMIX Flow version 1.5).\n\nPanasonic is also rolling out new firmware updates for several LUMIX S Series lenses as well as updates for the LUMIX Flow and Lab apps.\n\n### Panasonic LUMIX Firmware Updates\n\n\n\n\nHere’s a full breakdown of all of the firmware updates set to be released by Paonasic:\n\n**LUMIX S1RII Firmware Ver. 1.5 / S1II Ver. 1.4 / S1IIE Ver. 1.4 / S5II Ver. 3.7 / S5IIX Ver. 2.7**\n\n  * Compatibility with the new digital shotgun microphone DMW-DMS1 has been added.\n  * Support for the LUMIX Smartphone App, LUMIX Flow Ver. 1.5 has been added.\n  * Operational stability has been improved.\n\n\n\n**LUMIX S9 Ver. 1.9**\n\n  * Operational stability has been improved.\n\n\n\n**LUMIX S Series Lenses (LUMIX S PRO 16-35mm F4 / S PRO 24-70mm F2.8 / S PRO 70-200mm F2.8 O.I.S. / S PRO 70-200mm F4 O.I.S. Ver. 2.0)**\n\n  * The focus ring can now be used as a control ring, enabling the assignment of key functions.
