Sigma’s New Art Lens Gives Filmmakers Stunning Subject Isolation and Low-Light Power
Full-frame mirrorless shooters can rejoice; another powerful prime lens option is on the way, which should give shooters even more high-end portrait primes to consider for their projects. And while this lens isn’t planned to launch until September 2026, it will be available to check out in person at conferences beginning here soon.
Here’s everything we know about the upcoming Sigma 85mm F1.2 DG | Art, including what it is set to offer as a large-aperture medium-telephoto lens designed specifically for the photography and videography needs of full-frame mirrorless camera systems.
The Upcoming Sigma 85mm F1.2 DG | Art
Announced for development, the Sigma 85mm F1.2 DG | Art is a large-aperture medium-telephoto lens designed for full-frame mirrorless cameras. Sigma reports that the lens will feature the latest optical design, which will help it deliver exceptional resolution even at maximum aperture.
This, ideally, will make it a nice option for portrait photography or videography needs, thanks to its distinctive depth of field unique to F1.2. The lens will also feature a compact, lightweight design and fast, precise autofocus driven by a dual HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) system, which should help it offer reliable performance for professional applications.
Once released, Sigma reports that its lineup of F1.2 prime lenses will be complete as the 85mm F1.2 DG | Art will join the likes of the Sigma 35mm F1.2 DG II | Art and Sigma 50mm F1.2 DG DN | Art.
Price and Availability
The Sigma 85mm F1.2 DG | Art will be available for L-Mount and E-Mount systems this September. Stay tuned for more official specs and details soon.
