"textContent": "\n\n\n\nDisney and Pixar dropped the first full trailer for _Toy Story 5_ on Feb. 19, and the premise is exactly as on-the-nose as it sounds: toys versus technology. Woody and Buzz reunite to face off against Lilypad, a frog-shaped smart tablet that has Bonnie's full attention and some very disruptive ideas about playtime.\n\n- YouTubeyoutu.be\n\nIn the trailer, Jessie (Joan Cusack) is at first having fun with her child, Bonnie. But then Bonnie's parents give her a new gift, a tablet called Lilypad (Greta Lee). Bonnie is soon sucked into the digital world, abandoning her old, analog toys in favor of online content. Lily is fast and super-smart, able to process and translate conversations in multiple languages while doing some scrolling of her own. Jessie is dumbfounded.\n\nThe world has changed too quickly for our favorite characters, so Jessie calls on Woody (Tom Hanks), who's out helping more and more abandoned toys. He returns, wearing a poncho and sporting a brand new bald spot. Trixie the Triceratops sums it up by saying, \"Someone needs a brown marker!\"\n\nBuzz (Tim Allen) greets him as an old friend, and together they team up to figure out what to do with Lily, who mocks them as antiques by asking Woody if he's \"some sort of old man toy,\" and Forky helpfully clarifies, \"She thinks you're old because you're bald, Woody.\"\n\nShe conspires to get rid of the old toys. Buzz calls on some Space Ranger backup. As usual, Buzz and Woody butt heads in their mission to bring a child happiness.\n\nFans online have praised the aging toys detail as emotionally resonant, with some pointing out it's a nod to how high-end figures from the '90s are literally degrading in the real world, paint fading, and plastics yellowing.\n\nIf you want to go deeper on how _Toy Story_ built the franchise to this point, we've got you covered.\n\nThe film is directed by Andrew Stanton, whose credits include _WALL-E_ , _Finding Nemo_ , and _Finding Dory_ , with Kenna Harris co-directing and Randy Newman returning to score.\n\n_Toy Story 5_ opens in theaters on June 19, 2026.",
